“The best slam poetry organization in the nation,” is what I heard Brian Omni Dillon say about Richmond’s Slam Nahautl at its 11/2/2011 “End Hunger Slam Series” at SPARC.

Dillon – writer-in-residence for Manhattan’s iconic Nuyorkian Poets Café – was in town to be the guest artist at Slam Nahautl’s monthly event: a poetry slam to generate funds to help feed hungry families in Richmond. The slam – a competition scored by judges from the audience – featured Richmond area poets including my favorite, Slam Nahautl co-founder Daniel Jose Custodio.

This is a bucket-list performance series that will cause you to think and feel.
