What a treat it is to live in a community in which you’re apt to find an art exhibit where you stop in for coffee – as I did on 11/3/2011 during my first visit to Black Hand. There were exhibited nine large acrylic paintings by Dandridge Davis – an artist whom I don’t yet know. Her works got my attention: quiet and muted abstracts depicting nature. I was reminded of the paintings of Milton Avery – not the subject matter, but the type of poignant tone and mood and restrained palette that works so well for me.
