Samson Trinh and the Upper East Side Big Band performed their CD Release concert at Dogwood Dell last Friday, June 11th and I was blown away!

The album is their rendition of The Beatles final album Abbey Road. I, along with most people there, knew every song already so seeing a new big band version of this music was an added bonus.

The band looked and sounded fantastic. The Dogwood Dell Theater was packed with Samson and Beatles fans alike. By the time the band started to work on the second side of the record everyone was hooked.

The singers sounded lovely and the entire performance was simply magical. Samson conducted the horn section with an amount of energy that I have not seen on stage in many years.

Samson's arrangement and execution of this performance was fantastic! Kudos to all involved for helping make this yet another wonderful part of our cultural landscape.
