The 2020-2021 cycle for the CultureWorks Grant Program is now open! Applications are due on February 27, 2020 by 11:59 p.m.

The CultureWorks Annual Grants Program supports smaller 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, with limited resources and operating budgets less than $500,000, as well as funding for local artists. With few sources of support available in the Richmond and Tri-Cities region dedicated to helping these segments, the Grants Program is able to fulfill this need and invest in quality programs and initiatives for our community.

In 2020, we expect to hit the $1,000,000 mark in grant awards to remove barriers to arts and culture and help artists and small organizations become more sustainable.

Funding is available for two focus areas – Building Capabilities and Cultural Equity. Building Capabilities grants support the overall growth of an organization or artist, helping them to reach strategic goals, while Cultural Equity grants support initiatives that reach or serve underrepresented populations in the community.

A goal of CultureWorks is to ensure everyone in our community has access to arts and culture, and the opportunity to express their culture through the arts. Cultural Equity grants support organizations or artists conducting arts and culture projects or programming that reach underrepresented populations based on race, ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion.

CultureWorks mission is to drive a vibrant community by inspiring, enabling, and cultivating world-class arts and culture. To achieve that, arts and culture must be for our entire community.
— Scott Garka, President
